Summary of the Role
Aerosafe Africa Consultants is a KCAA-approved Aviation Training Organisation (ATO) offering specialised aviation training programmes, including the Flight Operations Officer (FOO) Course. To strengthen our growing team, we are seeking a dedicated Flight Operations Instructor to deliver high-quality instruction and support our training operations.
In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the next generation of Flight Operations Officers and supporting the smooth delivery of our training programmes. You will work closely with the Chief Instructor, Head of Training, and Operations Team to ensure academic quality, operational readiness, and an exceptional learner experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging classes across the approved Flight Operations curriculum (e.g., Air Law, Meteorology, Navigation, Aircraft General Knowledge, Operational Procedures, Human Performance, Principles of Flight, Flight Planning, Radio Telephony).
- Prepare lesson plans, learning activities, presentations, and training materials aligned to the approved curriculum.
- Facilitate discussions, case studies, simulations, and guided exercises that support competency-based learning.
- Assist in the development of knowledge and skill-based assessments.
- Administer continuous assessments and ensure completion of assignments.
- Provide timely marking, feedback, and academic support to students to help them achieve required standards.
- Guide students on expectations for internship/practical placement and assist in preparing them for real-world flight operations environments.
- Assist with reviewing and updating relevant manuals, designing and updating lesson plans and training materials.
- Contribute to closing audit findings by providing accurate training records, updated documentation, and corrective action support during internal/external audits.
- Assist in ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance across the training lifecycle, contributing to continual programme improvement.
- Ensure classrooms, teaching aids, CBT tools, and learning systems are ready before each session.
- Provide accurate attendance and assessment information needed for student records, certificates, and learning system updates.
Qualification and Skill Requirements
- Current and valid Flight Operations Officer Licence issued by KCAA.
- Strong grasp of aviation subjects covered within the Flight Operations syllabus.
- Minimum 3 years working in the aviation industry.
- Experience as an FOO instructor preferred.
- Training in teaching or instructional techniques is an added advantage.
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and presentation skills.
- Ability to collaborate professionally with instructors, training leadership, and operational support teams.
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft 365 apps (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Experience using and/or implementing a Learning Management System (LMS) preferred.
